First up: Big Eight Wine Night -- an overview of the great eight varietals, with examples from the Old World and the New.

Ideas for future tastings

To follow: exploration of specific grapes in different blends, varietals across time and space (including wines from S. Africa, Australia, California, Virginia, Texas, and so on)

• Wine pairings
• Coffee cuppings (hijacking Peregrine Espresso's Friday cuppings at Hill's Kitchen?)
• Chocolate tastings (single-origin, cocoa percentages, and more)
• Summer tastings would naturally include beers and some of the barbecue options from Eastern Market
